October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. After the success of our event last year, we are asking our patients to help us raise awareness for this very important cause, again! For everyone who choses to “light up their mouth” with pink ties in the months of October and November, Dr. Kaplan and the Kaplan Orthodontics Team will donate one dollar to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta & Turning Point Breast Cancer Rehabilitation. Together we can make a difference, one pink tie at a time!
October is a busy time at Kaplan Orthodontics! We love Halloween and also love raising awareness for National Orthodontics Health Month, so Dr Kaplan and his awesome team thought what better way to combine both than by organizing a Halloween Candy Buy Back. We will be collecting unopened candy during the week of Monday November 3rd – Friday November 7th. All candy collected will be sent to the Troops serving our Country!
Get your patient rewards cards ready because for every pound collected you will earn 5 points!

We are raising awareness for National Nutrition Month. The campaign focuses attention on the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating and physical activity habits.
Here are a few top tips on how to maintain a balanced & nutritious diet:
Calories & physical activity: Focus on balancing calories with physical activity and consuming an overall healthy eating pattern. This will put you on the road to achieving or maintaining a healthy weight and reducing the risk of developing diet-related chronic diseases.
Whole grains: Increase whole grains by choosing whole grain breads and cereals, brown rice and whole-wheat pasta. Make at least half yourgrain servings whole grains.
Vegetables: Eat a variety of vegetables, especially dark-green, red and orange vegetables plus beans and peas. Most adults need 2 • cups of vegetables per day.
Fruits: Add fruit to meals and snacks—fresh, frozen or canned—to get about 2 cups each day.
Low fat or fat free milk, yogurt and cheese or fortified soy beverages: Include 3 cups per day for calcium, vitamin D, protein and potassium. Lactose-free milk is also an option.

October 2013, during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Kaplan Orthodontics and our patients helped to raise awareness for this very important cause! We asked our patients to help us support our friends and family who have been touched by this disease by lighting up their mouths pink! For everyone who chose pink ties in the months of October and November, Dr. Kaplan and the Kaplan Orthodontics Team donated one dollar to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Atlanta & Turning Point. Together we raised $500 which we split between the two charities! Together we made a difference, one pink tie at a time!
